MICHELANGELO BUONARROTI E L’ARCHITETTURA

Call per proposte di intervento – scadenza 30 dicembre 2025
In occasione del 550° anniversario dalla nascita di Michelangelo Buonarroti, la ricerca PRIN MetaMic, con il patrocinio dell’Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, organizza a Roma un convegno internazionale dal titolo Michelangelo Buonarroti e l’architettura, che si terrà nel salone dell’Accademia nel pomeriggio del 28 gennaio 2026 e per l’intera giornata del 29. Per ogni intervento si prevede un tempo di 20 minuti, per un totale di circa 15-18 interventi nei due giorni.
Il convegno è un’occasione per divulgare e discutere i progressi degli studi sull’architettura buonarrotiana, in particolare nei temi seguenti:
- ruolo dell’architettura nel quadro dell’espressione artistica michelangiolesca;
- rapporti fra Michelangelo e le altre scuole progettuali (o singoli maestri) dei suoi tempi;
- focus su singole opere di architettura, realizzate o solo progettate;
- caratteri strutturali, materiali e cantieristici degli edifici michelangioleschi;
- ipotesi sui metodi progettuali buonarrotiani e i loro strumenti grafici o plastici;
- recezione storiografica e progettuale dell’architettura di Michelangelo, in particolare da fine Ottocento a oggi.
Anche se non riconducibili a queste tematiche, altri argomenti che abbiano come soggetto l’architettura buonarrotiana potranno in ogni caso essere considerati attinenti al tema del convegno.
Si invitano gli studiosi interessati a partecipare al convegno a inviare una proposta d’intervento all’indirizzo convegno_michelangelo2025@accademiasanluca.it
entro il 30 dicembre 2025; la mail dovrà contenere un breve curriculum scientifico del proponente (1000 caratteri), e un abstract dell’intervento proposto (2000 caratteri).
La ricerca PRIN 2022 PNRR (P2022KLELT) intitolata MetaMic (Digital cultural heritage: a participatory metaverse of the unbuilt architectures of Michelangelo Buonarroti) è finanziata dall’Unione Europea – Next Generation UE, Missione 4 Componente 1 (CUP J53D23016430001). È coordinata da Federico Bellini e riunisce le unità di SAAD-Camerino (PI), DIDA-Firenze (Emanuela Ferretti), IUAV Venezia (Vitale Zanchettin) e CNR-ISPC Roma (Bruno Fanini). Call for proposals – deadline 30th December 2025
To mark the 550th anniversary of Michelangelo Buonarroti's birth, the PRIN MetaMic research project, under the patronage of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, is organising an international conference in Rome entitled Michelangelo Buonarroti and Architecture, which will take place in the Accademia's hall on the afternoon of 28 January 2026 and throughout the day on 29 January. Each presentation will last 20 minutes, for a total of approximately 15-18 presentations over the two days.
The conference is an opportunity to disseminate and discuss the progress of studies on Buonarroti's architecture, particularly in the following topics:
- the role of architecture in Michelangelo's artistic expression;
- relationships between Michelangelo and other design schools (or individual masters) of his time;
- focus on individual works of architecture, whether realised or only designed;
- structural, material and construction characteristics of Michelangelo's buildings;
- hypotheses on Buonarroti's design methods and their graphic or plastic tools;
- historiographical and design reception of Michelangelo's architecture, particularly from the late 19th century to the present day.
Even if not directly related to these themes, other topics concerning Buonarroti's architecture may still be considered relevant to the conference theme.
Scholars interested in participating in the conference are invited to send a proposal to convegno_michelangelo2025@accademiasanluca.it
by 30th December 2025. The email should contain a brief scientific CV of the proposer (1000 characters) and an abstract of the proposed presentation (2000 characters).
The PRIN 2022 PNRR (P2022KLELT) research project entitled MetaMic (Digital cultural heritage: a participatory metaverse of the unbuilt architectures of Michelangelo Buonarroti) is funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, Mission 4 Component 1 (CUP J53D23016430001). It is coordinated by Federico Bellini and brings together the units of Camerino (PI), DIDA-Florence (Emanuela Ferretti), IUAV Venice (Vitale Zanchettin) and CNR-ISPC Rome (Bruno Fanini).
